Building Dreams Architecture

 For this post, I am going to be doing further material research on aluminium following my metal research blog. Aluminium is a metal that has been used in many industries like in construction, transportation, packaging, aerospace industries and more for its benefits. It is extracted from "bauxite ore" which is found in abundance in countries such as Australia, Guinea, and Brazil. Aluminium is a versatile material that can be used for many purposes as well as in many different aspects of construction. It could be from either building frames to cladding and roofing, aluminum can also be seen in many modern and sleek exterior designs which makes it a popular choice among architects and builders.  This is my tutorial where I updated my projects and talked with my tutor about further details and processes. We also discussed some of the 3D pieces where I will be trying to create a 3D digital walk-in design for the entrance of the building and then the second piece is the 3D model I will be creating using the help of the wood workshop. Then also about the location, I've already found the area I wanted to use but because of the environment, we talked about getting some new pictures of the location for a better space. Now I will be proceeding with my process of the 3d pieces and the rest of the details with my 2d pieces. 

This week we had group presentation where we talked about a specific piece of research we did that helped develop our projects.  I talked about "The Wave"  by Lacime Architects. I first presented main information of the building (location, year, etc) I talked about materials and techniques used and also the influence it had on my development process.  Here is the feedback I got from the rest of the group members. Mostly positive feedback but some of the main points was to include references and present the main information points of my project in the start of the presentation.   This is part 2 of creating the final digital design on SketchUp.  First, I started creating an entrance. I decided to place it on the right side of the wave and it would also be used as a canopy for people when they would walk in. I selected the pencil tool from the toolbar on the left side and created a rectangle. Then drew two sliding doors with the pencil tool and selected a metal material for the frames of it and glass for the doors. I chose the materials by going to the right setting bar and clicked on materials and picked them from the "glass and mirrors" and "metal" categories.  Then I decided to add the triangle pattern on the terrace side as well. I did that again with the pencil tool and then used the same materials I used on the rest of the triangles and also used the push and pull tool from the left toolbar to give the same texture.  After that, I went to the left side of the building to choose a material for that wall. This will be the process of me creating the final digital design on SketchUp. I am using the website version of Sketchup so after I signed in, I opened a new document.  To start the design, I selected the circle shape tool to create a circle by going to the left bottom of the toolbar, clicking on the three dots, and then on the first tool from the second row of the box.  Then I drew a line in the middle of the circle and then dragged that line upwards and then diagonally down to create sort of an arrow shape. I did that with the pencil tool and after I erased the half of the circle by clicking on it and then clicking on "erase.  After the half water drop shape was created I selected the push and pull tool from the left toolbar and then clicked on the shape and dragged it backward to give it depth.  Then I started creating the wave part with the free-hand pencil tool, I got that from the toolbox by clicking on the three-dot button on the left bottom side of the page. ...
